ElusiveMusic.net has an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channel, and although you can connect to it directly from the website using Java (by clicking Live Chat! in the top left menu while logged-in), some users may like to join in using external software. That is where mIRC comes in. mIRC is an IRC client for Windows. It is free to download, and highly customizable. To begin, you first need to get mIRC. You can do that by visiting http://www.mirc.com/get.html and clicking 'Download mIRC'.
You will then be redirected to CNet's page of the latest version of mIRC. Click 'Download Now' and wait a few seconds.. a download box should popup, and you can save the mIRC installer to your computer. If the box does not popup, click where it says 'click here'.
Once you have the installer saved on your computer (in my case it was mirc635.exe) you can open the file by double clicking on it. Follow the install process until it's completed (by clicking Next). The default settings should be fine for most users. Once it's finished installing, you can launch mIRC for the first time.
Here you will be required to enter some information about yourself. If you're concerned about privacy, enter in a fake name and E-Mail, it doesn't particularly matter. Next choose your Nickname (username), and an alternative incase you're prefered one is already in use. Then you will need to click 'Servers' in the left menu of the currently open window, and then click the 'Add' button.
Enter 'IRCPrison' in the description field. IRC Server is irc.prison.net, and leave the rest of the values as default. Click 'Add'. Then click 'Select', and then 'Connect'. You will recieve a screen full of information, as your client connects to the server, and then a box will popup asking you to join a channel.
Enter '#ElusiveMusic' into the box, and click 'Join'. You will then be connected to our chat channel, and all messages you type will be received by everybody else in the channel.
